Annuities can be put into a trust but why?  The purpose of a trust is to avoid probate.  Annuities already avoid probate.  There are only two reasons I would ever put an annuity into a trust is 1. if the trust is Irrevocable and the owner has an estate tax problem.   Secondly, if the owner is worried that their is going to be a dispute among the beneficiaries.

Can annuities be placed in a trust? Yes, they can. Annuities offer a stable safe growth product that could be placed in trust if desired. Does an annuity have to be put in a trust? No, not really. An annuity offers certain tax and death benefits on it's own that would work effectively without being in trust anyway. But yes, they can go into a trust.
