Everyone agrees that it is necessary to accumulate money for future use. There are critics of every form of investment. Some very smart people purchase annuities. If there were a convention of people all age 85, I am confident that you would find that those who moved capital into future savings, whether by using the stock market, an annuity, or hiding the money under the mattress would all say that their way of saving was best. It was certainly best for them.
