Auto and homeowners insurance are typically carried at will. This means that you can normally change carriers at time you wish. Every carrier and policy is different so please read your policy completely to know all of your coverages and exclusions. Some carriers do have initial fees when starting a policy and some have a fee if a policy isn't inforce over a certain time frame. If you work with a local agent they can normally help with the change from one company to another.

An auto insurance policy is able to be cancelled at any time. If you decide that you wish to switch auto insurance carriers you may do so at any time. Your current carrier would then have to refund you the unused portion of the premium paid. Always work with a local agent they are best equipped to help you get answers to your policy questions and can sometimes help you get a lower rate for your coverage by getting more of your insurance under one roof.
