Yes you may be added as an operator on your boyfriends auto insurance. Insurance companies want to be sure that all drivers that have access to the insured vehicles be named on the policy. However if your question is can you also add your vehicle to your boyfriends policy then your options are very limited although there are a few companies that will allow this.

The simple answer to this question is "Yes", you can be.  However, there are certain stipulations that will come into play.  The first is that on most personal auto policies, for two or more people to be on the same policy, they need to have the same physical address.  The exception to this would be a situation where a parent and a child share insurance, but the child is away at school, either with or without a vehicle.  The other stipulation is that any time two people are on the same policy, and are living at the same address, they need to carry the same level of coverage.
Typically, you will save money by having multiple people on the same policy, especially if you both have your own vehicle.  So it is worth it to combine policies if you do qualify to do so.
