    In Montana Yes you can. If someone has given you permission to drive the car then you are covered unless they have you excluded from the policy. But keep in mind that with most carriers when they are signing the policy they are stating that they have listed all drivers that live in the household and have access to the vehicle. If you are driving the car on a regular basis they should be listing you on the policy. I would talk to  a local agent and also check the state you live in for the guidelines they require.

    In Most cases the insurance follows the car 1st and the driver second.
