Auto insurance will cover cracked windshield under your comprehensive coverage portion of your auto insurance policy minus your deductible. They type of occurrences covered by comprehensive would be falling objects, flying objects, (rock being the most common) vandalism, temperature changes. Discuss with your local agent about comprehensive coverage and deductible options available  to you. Comprehensive may have a zero deductible glass option.

Damage to your windshield caused by a covered peril in your policy would be covered under the "Comprehensive" portion of your policy.  Unless Full Glass coverage has been endorsed onto your policy, the loss would be subject to your deductible.  This endorsement is very inexpensive and well worth it so be sure to talk to your Insurance Professional about it.
