    The answer can be both, but it would be a good idea to discuss this with your Insurance Professional to understand how your policy works.  If the policy provides only Physical Damage coverage (Comprehensive and Collision) , then the car is covered.  If it only provides Liability , uninsured and/or under insured motorist coverage, then it covers the named insured and anyone else so stipulated in the policy.  If then the policy includes both physical damage and liability coverage, then both the car and the person are covered.
