    Shopping cart damage is generally covered by the collision portion of the auto insurance policy and subject to the deductible. So if the cost to repair a ding caused by an errant shopping cart is $300 and your deductible is $500, there would be no insurance claim. The golden rule in parking lots: do unto others as you would have them do unto you and secure your cart when you're done!
