Children can stay on your car insurance as long as they live with you and the car is titled in your name. When your son or daughter moves out or they purchase a vehicle titled in their name they would need to get their own insurance policy. The answer depends upon your state.  In California there isn’t any age requirement.  The key issue in California is, “who is in the household.”  If there are older adults living in the household they not only can but must be listed on the policy or excluded by endorsement.
