On average my clients pay about $700 per year for auto insurance.  That really doesn’t tell you anything.  In California the rating factors are the year, make and model of the vehicle, and the annual mileage.  This information is married to the household where the primary insured lives and includes the age, experience and driving records of all the drivers in the household.   If there are multiple vehicles drivers are assigned by underwriting rules to determine the premium.  The customer can then qualify for various discounts until a final premium is determined.
