    That , frankly depends on your auto insurance provider.  Some companies offer "Accident Forgiveness" benefits which elliminates any anxiety about the company raising your rates if you file a claim.  In many cases, if you are involved in an accident that is not your fault, for example if you are hit by someone else and they take off, your insurance company may not increase your rates if they are needed to settle your claim.

    There are many factors to this. Many carriers will not rate you for minor accident usually under 500.00 some carriers charge for the so called accident forgiveness but other carriers give it to you for nothing.
    I have found that in many cases that the rate increase is much less then it would cost to repair the damage.
