Providing you have all the information needed to obtain a quote you should be able to obtain auto insurance the same day you apply if that is what you wish. Or you may pick a day in the future. Items needed would be drivers information with include name, DOB, drivers license # and SS# in some states. Also your garaging address and vehicle information not to mention coverage's desired.

Typically you can walk into an agents office and apply for the coverage you need and give them the answers to the questions that they ask.The agent has the capability of accessing your drivers license information and your cliams history and they can write the policy on the spot assuming they have automated quotation systems that are widely used. This assumes you are a citizen and you are of legal age which is 18.

The process of getting a quote on auto insurance is brief.  To turn the quote into a policy takes a little more time but the whole transaction can be done in less than 20 minutes.  In many cases all you need is your name, birthdate and address.  The insurance company can often detect the description of every car in your household and the names and drivers information on ever resident.  Retrieving MVRs and losses is also quite mechanized now.

That is a great question! If you have shown up at the agent's office with all of the information that you need, and a blank check, you can walk out of the office insured. It is a pretty speedy process, all you need to have is information and money to complete the process. Thanks for asking!

You can get auto insurance VERY quickly with the help of a broker. Some basic information is required including the VIN of the vehicle, your driver's licence number and address. By shopping different companies, you'll be able to find the cheapest rates and obtain coverage so you can avoid any lapse.
