If you have paid your auto insurance policy beyond the cancellation date you have chosen you would get some type of refund. In most cases this refund is pro-rated, however if you were with a non standard insurance carrier or have maintained a policy with a standard  insurance carrier there is a good probability the refund will be short rated. I recommend you always call your current insurance carrier to inquire about their cancellation policy.
