    Todd Officer
    President, Officer Insurance, Nashville, TN
An insurance adjuster either works for the insurance company or is a 3rd party representative hired by the insurance company.  In regards to an auto insurance claim, the adjustor will review the circumstances of the accident/damage as well as review the policy language to determine if in fact the damage is covered by the insurance policy.  If the damage is to be covered then the adjuster will inspect the damage to the vehicle and determine the payment amount.

The aduster is the primary point person in dealing with your auto claim.  Sometimes you might have mulitple adjusters on a claim like an in-house adjuster and a field adjuster as well.
