    People who buy critical illness insurance are those who have a genetic predisposition to certain illnesses based on family history, smokers (who have increased risk for getting some diseases), those who have had loved ones with critical illnesses and have seen the impact firsthand, and those who do not have savings on hand to pay for the costs that come with this type of diagnosis (loss of work, travel, child care, bills). All type of people buy critical illness insurance.
