You can get Disability Insurance if you make an income and if you qualify medically. Some health conditions that would most likely cause a decline for disability insurance are rheumatoid arthritis, stroke, MS and other health conditions that might advance to the point of restricting someone from being able to perform their job. Some graded policies will accept health conditions with moderate risk, such as type 1 diabetes. Regular Disability policies will cover well controlled health conditions and just charge some extra. The risk involved in one's job also makes a difference.

Can I get disability insurance? Yes you can. One thing good disability insurance can be hard to get as you have to medically qualify for coverage. Often the realization that a person needs income insurance (disability insurance) comes after an illness or injury that put them out of work for a period of time. That is when it dawns on a person to get covered. The problem? your health history (the reason you want disability ) now works against you.
