Every insurance carrier will ask medical questions when completing an application. Some carriers will decline applications for pregnant women. Many will not ask any pregnancy related questions, so you may be able to purchase a policy while pregnant in many cases.

Every policy will exclude coverage for any preexisting medical condition. That exclusion may last 6 to 12 months. That means your existing pregnancy will not be covered, but accidents and illnesses unrelated to your pregnancy may be covered.

Policies covering normal childbirth are difficult to find. They are only offered through employers. If you have the opportunity to buy a policy it may be your only chance to get covered for future pregnancies.
