    The federal government does not directly provide disability coverage to its employees. There are very generous sick leave policies, but not true disability. 

    There are a variety of private insurance carriers that sell to federal government employees indirectly. Some allow union members to purchase policies as a member benefit. Others have group plans that allow you to fund premiums directly from PayCenter and Postalease allottments.
