    It depends on a lot of factors.  Age, benefit request, elimination period, type of employment, the area you live in, your health, and the company you choose.  Check with a good independent agent familiar with disability insurance.  A good agent will be able to find you a plan that best meets your needs.

    As Ted mentioned, the premium is determined by numerous parts of a policy, including your benefit amount, elimination period, added riders, your occupation, etc.  When you choose an agent, he or she should be able to show you several different quotes.  If you find a policy that you like, but it's too expensive, be open with your agent about the amount you're willing to pay.  Your agent can adjust the policy to meet premium amount you desire. It will however, weaken the coverage, so keep that in mind.
