Individual disability policies do not offer maternity leave benefits. However, some group disability insurance policies may provide maternity benefits - not all do though (be sure to note that). If you have a group disability policy, be sure to check the benefits under your policy - especially the definition of disability (many group DI policies feature a "gainful occupation" definition) - certain conditions likely will need to be met for a maternity leave benefit claim to be approved.

If you're looking for individual disability insurance or to set up a group disability policy, please send me an e-mail via the contact me button next to my name with your name and contact information to reach you at. We have an agent in our group with a strong disability insurance background.

I hope the information is helpful - thanks very much.

I am updating my answer from March 16, 2015. At this time, in August of 2017, there are not any companies that offer individual short term disability income policies that would pay out for normal pregnancy and childbirth. There is at least one company that offers short term disability insurance, but not for maternity purposes.
