    Technically, you have to be domestic partners. Here is a link to the definition of domestic partner in CA along as well as the registry... http://www.sos.ca.gov/dpregistry/ Having said that, I don't think there's any particular advantage to having your girlfriend on your plan. You don't get a better price, plus you'd both have to meet your individual deductibles. If you are, in fact, domestic partners, there may be some subsidy implications. But again, there's not much that you'll gain by being on the same policy together.
