Hyperhidrosis is often a symptom or side effect of an underlying illness. Sometimes patients with diabetes, Parkinson's, anxiety, congestive heart failure or other conditions can experience hyperhidrosis. When the underlying condition is treated, often the symptom subsides.

Sometimes OTC antiperspirants will control the sweating, and sometimes a more concentrated formula is needed. In rare occasions the condition is treated surgically.
