   In past years, coverage for psychiatry varied dramatically depending on the state you live in and the policy you have.  The passage of the Affordable Care Act was perhaps the largest expansion of mental health and substance coverage in decades,as all health insurance plans are now required to cover mental health and substance use disorder services. However, policies are allowed to place limits on the number of visits you receive each year, or on which pyschiatrist you use, so allows make sure to consult your insurance agent or company before seeking treatments.
