Health insurance is not free. There is a premium required on every policy. However, under the new Affordable Care Act, you may be able to qualify for a subsidy if certain conditions are met (the primary being your income level). If you are trying to secure a subsidy to use towards your health insurance premiums, you will need to buy a health plan ON the health insurance exchanges. Subsidies can't be used towards off exchange health plans.
