    By secondary insurance I assume you mean supplemental plans such as cancer plans, hospital indemnity, accident, etc.

    Some of the plans are stand alone and do not coordinate with other coverage. Many of these plans pay cash direct to you.

    Some supplemental plans are only issued if you have an in force major medical plan and benefits will be coordinated to make sure you do not receive reimbursements from all sources that exceed 100% of the actual claim.
