    Group health insurance plans have many variables that impact pricing. Your location, the type of business, age and gender of your employees, overall health of the covered individuals, and plan design are the most prominent factors in rate setting.

    In Atlanta, it is not uncommon to see employee only rates in the $300 - $400 per month range. Family rates can be 3 - 4x the employee rate.

    In addition, most carriers require 50% minimum employer contribution on behalf of the employee. No requirement for dependents. This variable contribution amount further clouds the cost of health insurance for small business.

    Depending on demographics of of the group, type of health plan offered, employer contribution amount, the cost to employee can be $0 to $300.
