How can you keep health insurance when you are between jobs?

    The obvious answer is COBRA.

Under COBRA rules you or your family members cannot be denied coverage. Your COBRA plan is the same as your employer group health insurance plan.

There may be more affordable options in the private health insurance market.

How to keep health insurance between jobs?  if your employer is large enough (20 people at work on a given day) you have an option for COBRA continuation which means you can continue your group coverage for up to 18 months or longer (depending on certain conditions) at your expense plus a small handling charge (102% of premium cost).

If you find that cost to be too much for your budget, you can look to both the individual market or temporary health insurance market for possible solutions. You may not get exactly the same coverage as offered by your former employer, but the cost might be considerably less.
