It is the out of pocket medical expenses that a individual must pay before their insurance "kicks in" with your policies definition of full coverage. Generally medical expenses relating to preventive and early detection will be covered before meeting the deductible. The co-pays and co-insurance would be credited toward your deductible. It is the same basic principle as a deductible with car insurance.
