    Article I, Section 32 added to the Texas Constitution in 2005, states, "Marriage in this state shall consist only of the union of one man and one woman.  This state or a political subdivision of this state may not create or recognize any legal status identical or similar to marriage."  However, many companies and government agencies in the state do allow benefits to be extended to same-sex partners of employees. To more precisely address your particular situation, I would recommend consulting the current policies of the company you are interested in receiving benefits from.
