In most cases, dependent children will "age off" their parents plan once they reach their 26th birthday.

If your child is severely disabled they may qualify for continuing coverage as a dependent.

If your child is healthy, they may be better off with their own health insurance policy regardless of their age. Keep in mind that child only policies for children under the age of 19 do not exist in most states.
