Why buy private health insurance?  Well, honestly for a while longer you don't have to if you don't want to. The choice to insure has been a personal one in this country for some time. If you did not wish to have coverage, you didn't have to carry any.

But here's the rub to deciding not to have health insurance. If you have a medical need and the means to come close to paying the BILL that comes along with treating the need, the BILL will be treated as any other BILL a person receives in their lifetime. That is, if you decide not to pay it and you have assets or the means to pay it, the hospital or doctor will act just like any other entity out there and send  you to collections for recovery.

The people Hospitals and Doctors "write off" do not have the means to pay for a premium. They have nothing of value. So yes, they do get their care without charges. If you have the means to pay and don't, a hospital or Doctor will not treat you the same way.

Besides all insurance does is cover for risk you do not want to self insure for. You can either pay for an insurance policy or pay out of your assets, entirely for now, your choice.
