If an insured becomes an unacceptable risk to a carrier then the carrier may choose to either non-renew a risk or in more severce cases cancel the policy with possibly as little as fourteen days written notice. After you have received notification of non-renewal or cancellation you have some time to seek coverage with another carrier as not to have a lapse in coverage.
