There are some insurance companies that may surcharge for having a pool but generally this is very minimal. What a pool owner needs to consider is do they have enough liability coverage on their policy. Your biggest potential loss as it pertains to a pool is having a liability law suit against you should someone be injured or worse in or around your pool. Being a pool owner myself I carry an umbrella policy as added protection just to make sure in the event of an unfortunate accident I am properly covered.
