Some homeowners insurance policies do provide coverage for mold. The mold would have had to of been caused by a covered loss and even then there are exclusions that will apply and possibly a deductible. Read over your policy completely to know what coverage is provided and the exclusions within it or contact your local agent to have them go over the coverage and exclusions of your policy.

Mold is an issue that has received a great deal of attention in the media. A homeowner’s policy is designed to cover specified perils.  Most of these perils are sudden and catastrophic.  Mold is in every home all the time. Building materials provide a food source for mold. All that is needed for rapid growth of mold is moisture.  The issue is frequently leaky pipes.  The damage caused by leaky pipes is generally excluded.  Speak to your agent before filing a claim to make sure that you have a solid claim.
