Mold is often specifically excluded in homeowner’s policies.  Some companies place a monetary limit on the damages from mold.  The underlying concept is that mold is present in every building but that moisture is required to activate the spores.  Seeping water is also excluded as this is considered a maintenance issue.  Mold is not sudden.  If you suspect mold you need to contact an industrial hygienist to determine if mold is actually present and then have it removed.  In the process the remediation contractor will likely discover the source of the moisture.  As a preventative step replace washer hoses and the lines to the water dispenser in your refrigerator every few years.  These are notorious sources of seeping water.
