As a matter of practice most insurance companies look back at three years of losses.  Companies are particularly concerned about recurring losses.  These usually indicate poor maintenance or a design flaw in the residence.  Recurring water damage losses from a leaky roof are a concern.  There are situations where the initial repair did not fix the root cause and continued claims can be expected.
