Switching homeowners insurance carriers should be an easy process. You would want to make sure you have secured a new insurance carrier first and then you can simply notify your current insurance company to terminate your existing policy. Most of the time the current insurance company will want the cancellation request in writing. If you wait to long, generally over 30 days an insurance carrier can require a copy of the new declarations page to verify replacement coverage before the policy can be cancelled.
