Typically erosion, just like vermin would be considered a maintaince issue not a claim issue for your homeowners insurance. Read your policy completely to know what coverage is provided and what exclusions there may be within it or contact your local agent to have them go over the policy with you.

Unless you talked to your Insurance Professional and had coverage for damage caused by earth movement added to your policy, then it is unlikely that you would have any coverage for such a loss. There are two common exclusions that you would find in a homeowners' policy and damage caused by any form of earth movement is one of them. Flood is also common exclusion, however, unlike earth movement protection which can be endorsed onto a homeowners policy in many cases, flood insurance is only available by purchasing a Flood Insurance Policy.
