The six categories are shown on a typical homeowners policy as coverage limits A-F.  Coverages A-D are related to property insurance and Coverages E-F are related to liability insurance.

Coverage A (Dwelling) applies to the coverage for the home, including any attached structures (e.g., a garage) and permanently installed property (e.g., hardwood flooring).

Coverage B (Other structures) applies to any detached structures on your property, such as a utility shed or detached garage.  This limit is typically 10% of the Coverage A limit with most carriers, but can be increased if needed.

Coverage C (Personal Property) applies to coverage for your personal belongings that are other than the property described in Coverages A and B above.  This limit is typically set at 60-75% of the Coverage A limit depending on the carrier, but can be increased if needed.

Coverage D (Loss of Use) applies if your home ever becomes uninhabitable due to a covered loss (e.g., a fire loss).  It is there to provide for the living expenses associated with having to find temporary housing (apartment, hotel, etc.).  This limit is typically set at 20% of the Coverage A limit with most carriers.

Coverage E (Personal Liability) provides liability coverage for all of the people permanently residing in the home.  Liability insurance provides coverage if you are legally responsible for an act that injures someone or someone else's property.

Coverage F (Medical Payments) provides coverage for medical expenses that result from injuries to others that occur on your premises.
