There is no Cooling Off Period for Property & Casualty Insurance;  Cooling Off Period is a safety feature for Life Insurance Products designed to allow the client the freedom to cancel the policy if insurance was purchased following a sales presentation.  There have been many cases that people feel that they were pressured into the sale of life insurance product and therefore wish to cancel the policy.  Home insurance is written on standardized forms thus regulating the actual coverage offered.

Property & Casualty Products, including Home Insurance,  are quoted and bound if the client decides to purchase coverage after reviewing the quote.   A client may cancel the coverage at any time;  where the insurance company usually has 60 Days (varies in different States) to complete their underwriting investigation and take appropriate action.

Insurance carriers will not allow the backdating cancellation of a policy unless there is a situation where duplicate insurance exists (proof will be required)  or if the home has been sold at a prior date (the closing statement showing the sale date will be required).

For those seeking an online quotation, there is a link providing an online format to obtain a quote and buy home insurance online in multiple States; may be used by Escrow/Closing Professionals, Mortgage Professionals, Real Estate Agents and directly by Consumers. An exemplary online experience for all!   http://hda.stillwaterinsurance.com

A homeowner’s policy is a legal contract that is time bound.  When the company stands to honor its promises to pay damages it does so in full expectation of receiving the premium called for in the declarations.  This is rarely an emotional decision and customers rarely have regrets.  If you have a homeowner’s policy that you don’t like, get a replacement and cancel the current coverage, however, don’t expect a refund of premium that the company has earned.
