Homeowners Insurance will not pay for dead tree removal. A tree is a plant and it is the homeowners obligation to show pride of ownership and to take care of his or her yard. Big plant or small it's the homeowners responsibility to maintain. Also a dead tree just sitting there and  has not caused any damage to the dwelling,  therefore there is no claim. I know what your thinking. The tree is a potential hazard and could fall on the house and cause damage or hurt someone. If this were to happen and you were unaware of any potential hazard there would be coverage should the tree fall on your house. However, if you are aware the tree is a hazard and fail to mitigate the hazard you are negligent and are not living up to your obligation as a homeowners and risk having the claim denied.
