Great Question. Typically home insurance does not cover foundation repair. That type of work is not cover by insurance policy. You may want to check with the person who built your house and see what is the propor way to fix that problem. Also make sure you consult with a licensed contractor as well.

Your homeowner’s policy covers damage caused by a specified peril. Damage to a foundation would most likely be the result of earth movement or the entry of outside water (flooding.) Both of those perils are excluded in most homeowner’s policies. Maintenance of the home is also an excluded peril. It is, however, possible that one of the insured perils could damage the foundation and coverage would be available.
