    Yes, many people do leave life insurance as a minor, especially as a contingent beneficiary. If death would occur before the child is the age of 18 or 21, depending on the state, there must be a financial guardian to administer the life insurance proceeds for the child until they reach adulthood. So it is better to name an adult who you can trust to act in the best interest of the child, or to a trust, or have guardianship issues spelled in a will or trust.
