Life insurance is sold by life insurance companies not banks. But most banks will sell you life insurance. It's just not a product of the bank. They will have a life insurance agent that works with them to sell life insurance to the bank customers.

Banks and credit unions are usually not great places to buy your life insurance but there can be exceptions to that. Generally the agent at the bank or credit union will be less knowledgable and be much more limited on life insurance products he can offer you than an independent life insurance agent.

You should use your bank for your checking and savings accounts and loans. You should go to an independent insurance agent for life insurance.
