Great question! There are many, many companies that offer life insurance policies. What you want to look for is a company that is well rated, (AM Best, Standard & Poors for example are companies that rate insurance companies on their financial stability), has been around a while, and is well respected. I recommend that you find a local independent agent ( one who is not tied to a specific brand, and  so can write for several companies) who can help you find the company that offers the product that is the best fit for you. There are several kinds of policies, and uses for them, so having someone that you can trust to walk you through the process is a huge help.  If you would like to contact me, I'd be happy to help you with some more specific to your needs information. I'd be glad to help. Thanks for asking!

Life insurance is available for sale in a great variety of place including online, through "captive" agents and independent life insurance brokers.

The challenge is that life insurance can be deceptively easy to compare when looking only at initial premium rates. You are best served by someone who takes the time to understand you and what your insurance needs are. Working with a local independent agent /broker to help you find the right policy at the right price is your best bet.

If you have further questions, or feel that I could be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you would like to work with a local life insurance broker, you could start with a Google search. For example, if you search for: life insurance broker Halifax or life insurance agent Halifax, my name, along with several others, will come up. You can use the same method to find a life insurance broker in your community.

In the U.S., you can buy life insurance online, by phone or in person from a licensed agent.
When you go to buy or seek advice, you'll have a choice of dealing with a one-company agent like Allstate or State Farm or an independent agent who represents many different companies.  Most independent agents represent 5 or fewer companies.  At my firm, www.lifequotes.com, you can instantly and anonymously compare rates of 35 leading life insurers and have the freedom to buy from any company shown.  If you have a history of health conditions, our rating engine can handle and accurately quote up to 35 common illness histories.  With life insurance, every aspect of your past health is looked at closely.

My recommendation is to buy a life insurance policy from someone that you trust.  To find that person ask your colleagues, friends and neighbors who they trust.  When talking with that agent make sure that they record the information that you provide and then accurately pass that to the company.  When the policy arrives make sure that it is exactly what you ordered.  The right policy with the right limits in force when you die is the best life insurance policy that you could possibly own.

Purchase Life Insurance from the agent or agency you feel has your best interest in mind.  With the vast wealth of information available online it should be easy for the average consumer to go into a life insurance transaction with a good understanding of what the arena looks like.  If you aren't comfortable then the best advice is to ask your trusted family and friends whom they use or have used in the past.

Purchasing life insurance can certainly be challenging, considering all of the available resources and policy options.

As a broker with 33 years of  experience, here's my advice: Work with an experienced broker that has access to most of the top-rated companies and understands your specific needs. He/she should be able to easily present to you affordable options with full explanations of benefits.

Also, the broker should own and operate a reputable website that allows you to view and read about the most pertinent life insurance topics.
