    Can you decline Medicare Part A? Actually, Medicare Part A does not cost you anything and the enrollment process is free with no fees or charges.

    If you or your spouse have not worked, it is possible that you will not be eligible to receive free benefits and you may have to pay for coverage. Theoretically, in that case, you could elect not to take coverage since it is not a requirement that you accept it.
