Medicare can provide some limited skilled nursing home care benefits.  For days 1-20, you pay $0 each benefit period. For days 21-100, you pay $152 per day each benefit period.  Days 101+, you're responsible for all costs. So, in short, Medicare will provide coverage for nursing care for up to 100 days.

Medicaid can help pay nursing home expenses for Medicare beneficiaries.   Medicare.gov provides a list of each specific covered service and eligibility conditions that need to be met for Medicare to cover nursing home care expenses.

Long term care insurance is going to provide the greatest nursing home benefits.
