Don't rely on your friends for advice. Most of them probably made bad choices, especially if they bought Medicare supplement plan F without really understanding their options.

And don't default to the big name carrier or one that is promoted by a well known senior PAC. If you do you will most certainly pay too much.

Over 90% of my clients do not buy plan F, nor do they pick a big name carrier and they really enjoy the money they save each month.

Picking the right Medigap policy that best fits your individual needs is important. The policy that is great for your friend may not be the best plan for your needs. The best thing to do is to start looking at Medigap plans with an independent agent that specializes in Medigap (also known as Medicare Supplement). That agent should be able to show you plans from several different insurance carriers and explain the differences to you. All Medigap plans have a letter such as Plan F, Plan G and so on. If it doesn't have a letter it is not a Medigap policy.
