    Medicare Part D became effective on January 1, 2006. It is available to persons enrolled in Medicare Part A and B for prescription drug payment assistance, by joining a PDP (Prescription Drug Plan). Or you can join a Medicare Advantage Plan (MA) that covers services and drugs in one plan.

    January 1,2006 was the effective date for Medicare Part D. Coverage can be obtained by enrolling in a PDP (Prescription Drug Plan) or a Medicare Advantage Plan (MAPD) that covers medical/hospital/prescription drugs in one plan. I recommend contacting an independent agent who specializes in Medicare plans to help determine the best plan for your specific needs...
