The best Medigap Plan is the one that meets your needs. With that said, Medigap Plan F is widely touted as the best Medigap Plan. It's very popular because it has the most comprehensive health care coverage of all Medigap Plans.

Medigap Plan F covers all your Medicare approved charges. You do not have to pay any co-pays, deductibles or co-insurance. As long as you pay your monthly premium, you will receive your Medigap Plan F benefits.

Some would argue that Medigap Plan G is becoming the 'best' Medigap Plan. It acts just like Plan F after satisfying the annual Part B deductible ($147 in 2014). The premium for Plan G is often lower than Plan F...which is why many people like it.

It's a personal preference as to whether or not you want to pay the Part B deductible yourself (Plan G) or have the insurance company do it for you (Plan F). Some of my clients don't like to be bothered with paying any bills, so Medigap Plan F works for them. While I have other clients who would rather save money on their premium and don't mind satisfying the deductible.
